Life in the Fast Lane…

Hey Guys,

So this is my first post, I’ll try make it a memorable one or at least an interesting one! I thought I would cut to the chase and start by explaining who I am – I’m Luke David Marshall, a 21 year old Motorsport mechanic from Derbyshire, now living in Northamptonshire.

My job lets me travel across the world, visiting a variety of different countries from France and Spain, all the way to China and Dubai. As amazing as it sounds, it’s not just flying here, there and everywhere, we do have a job to do, although the odd day to explore is always high on the list.

As glamorous as it sounds and I suppose it is… there’s a lot of hard work and commitment goes in. Unlike most jobs the hours sometimes extend long past your normal 9am-5pm, sometimes even doubling the hours. Last year was one of the most rewarding years I’ve been apart of, we as a team competed in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup championship. Me and my driver Ben, had a very successful year racking up 3 wins, numerous podiums and after an eventful end to the year finished the championship in 4th place. We had a very up and down year but we always came out the other side, stronger and more determined than before.

2015 was a big year for me, although I’ve lived on my own since 2013 in a house share, having my own en-suite and sharing the living space, I stepped up and got an apartment with my girlfriend. It’s such an amazing but scary experience but so exciting… Although the hours spent in Ikea are hours of my life I will never get back. You learn so much about yourself, you learn that you can live without your parents mothering you, even if my Mother still tries to. The hardest thing for me has been making an evening meal every evening. It’s not so much the cooking I’ve struggled with,  but the deciding what to actually have. It makes the situation more challenging as my girlfriend Jodi is “gluten intolerant” which limits the food she can eat. You can read more about this here on her blog. I wasn’t aware how common the situation was until I met Jodi, and that there is a wide range of gluten free options available.

That is just a snippet into the world of Luke Marshall. There is a lot of new journeys and experiences that will take place in 2016, I can’t wait to bring you along for the ride. Thank you for reading…
